Top Places To Park The RV and Stay For a Few Days

It’s a bit of a Campervan/RV enthusiasts dream Tauranga and its surrounds.  At Things To Do In Tauranga we’ve sussed out some of the top places you can park up, explore and stay for a few days.  

Mount Maunganui Beachside Holiday Park

This spot is a beachlovers idea of the absolute perfect spot.  The campground stretches from Pilot Bay which is a wonderful safe swimming spot for young and old through to the surf side of Mount Maunganui main beach. Things To Do In Tauranga highly recommend having a relaxing soak at the Mount Hot Pools where you can also book in for a revitalising massage.  Across the road you are spoilt for choice for eateries so if you don’t feel like cooking in the camper it’s all here.  A quick stroll into the main street where you can shop and continue eating and drink to your heart's content. 

Did Someone Say Freedom Camping?

If freedom camping appeals then there are more than one camping reserves that will let you park up for a few days.  Some have more spaces than others but there really are some cracking spots you can enjoy for a couple of days at least.  Meet fellow campers, enjoy the facilities like BBQs and clean ablution blocks and Things To Do In Tauranga know the majority of great and responsible freedom campers always clean up after themselves.  Here’s a list of a few of our top Tauranga locations you can currently camp at for a few days for free:

Sip a cold beer, a classic Sav Blanc from the comfort of your campervan lounge as you watch the sunset across the stunning Papamoa Beach.  Papamoa Beach Resort is known for its amazing beach front location, it’s friendly, professional and local staff who go out of their way to share with you all the local hot spots.  The facilities are kept pristine, there’s plenty to do for the kids with trike hire on site as well as a bouncy “pillow”.  When you need to pop to the shops it’s literally a stone's throw away at the Papamoa Plaza which also houses a food court for night’s off from cooking and a couple of very cool local pubs to boot.  The newest kid on the pub block is The Island which crafts its own beers and these guys rock!  Proud supporters of many local events and clubs give their beers a go and enjoy some of our local talent who might just show up for gig.
